Youth

Reinout is born on May 11, 1974. His work is inspired by the work of the Victorian painters as Alma Tadema, J.W. Waterhouse and 17th century Dutch masters like Rembrandt and Vermeer.


Study

At the age of 21, Reinout begins the "Fine Arts and Design" program at Hanze University College Minerva in Groningen (1995-1999). During this period, Reinout supplies illustrations to Hervormd Nederland, and in 1998 he makes the drawings for the monthly horoscope of the ladies magazine "Elegance". He also makes comics, posters, decors, and commissioned portraits and caricatures.
At the Minerva art academy, he teaches himself in various directions within contemporary art and explores the value of the concept in visual arts. In the last years at the academy, he focuses on still lifepainting and as well the backgroundstory behind the still life.







Foreign adventure

During his study period, Reinout resides regularly abroad. In the '93''94 he performs an international experience of 6 months at The College of the Ozarks in Missouri, USA, where he follows painting classes and got a job in decorbuilding in the theater. After his Minerva time, Reinout is awarded the VSB scholarship in 1999 for a one-year study project in Italy. At the highly acclaimed Accademia Di Belle Arti Pietro Vannucci in Perugia he researches the ancient Italian masters and improves his skills in classic painting.

Inspiration
Reinout Krajenbrink is inspired by the beauty of things made by man or nature. He tries to bring the beauty of the little things back to attention by highlighting them through subtle lightning and balanced compositions in detailed realistically painted still life. which makes you almost forced to stand still.
